The Reality of Being Self-sufficient
“Words of the hero: "I am my fate.” Marty Rubin
In times or crisis and despair encouragement will come in many forms from the people you turn to for support. Words, cards or even baked goods are meant to ease the reality of the situation. But reality will ultimately manifest itself and you will recognize that you are alone when faced with adversities. That is not to say that others don't care but you are your "fate". For example, when faced with the loss of a job an individuals typical reaction is "why me" followed by the personal doubts in ones self worth that develop with that question. Even though family and close friends might want to help, in most instances they can't and will not offer as they don't want to admit their insignificance to a resolve. So the best medicine in adversity is to spend less time in despair and more time in resolve. The greatest gift that you have is the freedom to determine your next course of action and since none of us were born with any guarantees in life that is your guide to your "fate".
