Having a great place where you can entrust your furry friend is indeed a wonderful feeling. While your buddy may be especially young, or just needs a bit more exercise, a doggy daycare is a great way to simplify life for both you and your pooch.
Here are few considerations to take care while choosing a daycare for your puppy:
1. Location: Narrowing your search down to a convenient location is of importance in the long run. Especially, if you plan on having your furry buddy spend his days there every day or frequently during your work-hours. One that’s close to home or office or even midway can be a good way to start your search.
2. Experienced and Trained Staff: A good daycare ideally has a high percentage of staff who are trained and certified in animal care and control. Certifications to look out for include, Animal sciences, Dog Obedience Trainer, Pet Grooming, Natural health care for pets, etc. In addition, the presence of an on-call Vet is also essential to keep the Pet Daycare running with the least number of ‘incidents’.
3. Regular Routine: Ask for the Daycare’s policies on routine being followed for pets. If the pets are simply allowed to play together without a limit, it’s possible that over-energetic pets may tire themselves out and less energetic ones get hurt or left out of the socializing process. Hence, a healthy feed, play, rest and care routine is ideal for all dogs to receive enough exercise and rest to keep them in top condition. Use of shifts or rounds in which dog groups are formed and rotated on group by group is also an excellent daycare routine.
4. Daycare Layout: A large enough play area must be available for dogs. The ideal size should allow 5-10 dogs of similar sizes and energy levels to play under constant supervision. Resting areas could be a common area or separate rooms, kennels or cages for dogs to get their rest. A separate care area where pets are groomed should be provided.
5. Cleanliness: A daycare must be cleaned daily before admitting pets. This will prevent the sharing of any illnesses or pests among the furry guests.
6. Personalized attention: A daycare that is able to provide individual attention by ensuring that your pet is taken care of at his level of training, according to his/her personality and preferences, is the probably one among the best doggy daycares. The daycare owner should ideally write down your house rules for your dog, to ensure that he does not unlearn his good habits; your pet’s food requirements and preferences, his general behavior etc.
7. Entry Requirements: Every Pet care center must have an entry requirement – an interview of sorts, in order to ensure that all your companion’s vaccinations have been administered, he/she has been either spayed or neuteredBusiness Management Articles, and is able to socialize well with other pets.
Follow these simple tips and you’re sure to find the best daycare for your precious pup.
