US Marshals office warns of nationwide scam

Sentinel Source.com - 11/17/2017 - Sentinel Staff - The U.S. Marshals Service is warning of nationwide scams where people pose as law enforcement agents. Saying they’re marshals, court officers or other officials, scammers threaten their victims by phone with arrest for an offense such as failing to report for jury duty, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service’s New Hampshire division. Victims are directed to buy a prepaid debit card, such as a Green Dot card or gift card, and to read the card number to the caller over the phone.
